* MN State Fair sets single-day attendance record. Better late than never.
After days of punishing weather that included temperatures in the mid-to-high 90s and triple digit heat indexes that significantly cut into attendance at the Minnesota State Fair, Sunday's weather proved far more friendly.
And it showed at the gate.
State Fair officials tweeted that Sunday's Attendance shattered a single-day attendance record, with 236,197 people moving past the turnstyles.
The crush of business put smiles on the faces of vendors, who had complained for days that the scorching weather and smallish crowds were pushing them towards a 'break even' type year.
"Whenever it's cooler, we always do the best, the coffee, the brownies," smiled Alicia at the Oven Fresh Brownies stand. "We're making up for the whole fair in two days.
Sunday's comfortable temps, followed by a cool Labor Day on the fair's final day, definitely helped vendors make up some ground.
