My memories of Ron are from many many years ago but are ones of his smiling face and zest for life. Our days are surely numbered on this earth and yet the foot prints left behind are so comforting. May the Redlinger family bask in the love and memories.

Ron and family,
Strangely, I know exactly how you feel right now.
You can tell a lot about a tree by examining the fruit. Based upon my experience with my boss, I can tell that Ron Sr. was a man of wisdom, justice, mischief, intellect and fierce loyalty. He loved his family above all else and did whatever was required to provide the best life for them that he could, with whatever resources were available.
I pray that the Lord blesses each of you with enough time to grieve in your own way, and I also pray that you receive His healing peace as you walk through this valley. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To My Father Ronnie Sr. Big Ron Grey Fox Grandpa Ron:
Having bestowed the honor of being Jr. to the Sr. I came along as son number three of four. I recall a man from a small town called Lake Benton; a man with an entrepreneurial spirit on a mission blazing his own trail, starting a family; a man that was proud to be from a small town taking on the city; a man that took small town values with him everywhere; a man that lived and loved hard.
Having shared your name I would get calls from your colleagues who would mistake me as you. The testimonials are like no other. The stories would go on and on. I recall us laughing that I could go along and just listen while taking in the joy of the storyteller. This would repeat for several years. And how fitting will it be that we celebrate your life where all of this started with us, New Brighton. I now sit for hours smiling and reminiscing of all the good times I had with you and my brothers. You had a unique relationship with your sons. You were our best friend. You befriended our friends and so on. You had a genuine soul that unified people.
In the end you were a loving Father and Husband; a beloved Father-in-Law and a Grandfather and before all of this always a beloved Son, Brother and Friend. And as this has all transpired over my lifetime I shall remember you as same. I recall how proud you were when we visited Grandma in Lake Benton and how proud you were of your Sister and Brothers.
Towards the end of your journey as the physical quality of your life diminished your steadfast genuine love for Mom and your sons was paramount to your own pain and suffering. And now you are free of pain. You refused to give up and for that you have no idea the impression you left on me; on your sons.
May you now be reunited with your beloved Mother Grandma Red and shine your light down on your grandchildren who will miss you dearly.
Love your proud son,
Ron Jr.

"Goodbye My Friend" A poem by Anon
Though we never know Where life will take us, I know it's just a ride On the wheel.
And we never know When death will shake us And we wonder how It will feel.
So Goodbye my friend. I know I'll never see you again.
But the time together Through all the years, Will take away these tears.
It's OK now - Goodbye my friend.
I see a lot of things That make me crazy, And I guess I held on to you, You could have run away And left - well maybe, But it wasn't time And we both knew.
So Goodbye My friend. I know I'll never see you again.
But the love you gave me Through all the years Will take away these tears.
I'm OK now - Goodbye my friend.

USS Salute (AM-294)
USS Salute (AM-294)
USS Salute (AM-294), was a U.S. Navy oceangoing minesweeper, laid down on 11 November 1942 by Winslow Marine Railway and Shipbuilding Co., Seattle, Washington; launched on 6 February 1943; sponsored by Miss Patricia Lindgren; and commissioned on 4 December 1943, Lt. R. H. Nelson in command.
World War II Pacific Theatre operations
After shakedown, Salute sailed from San Francisco on 21 March 1944 for Hawaii. Between April and September 1944, she escorted convoysbetween Pearl Harbor, Majuro, Kwajalein, Eniwetok, Guam, and Saipan, before reporting to the 7th Fleet at Manus on 8 October for the Leyteinvasion. On 20 October, she joined her division, Mine Division 34, off the Leyte beaches for a four-day sweep of the main transport channel, and then anchored with the transports to provide antiaircraft support.
Between 27 and 31 October, she helped search for survivors at the scene of the Battle off Samar, where a group of escort carriers, destroyers, and destroyer escorts, had repulsed the attack of a more powerful Japanese fleet. For the next month, she carried out local patrols and sweeps in the vicinity of Leyte.
Salute participated with her division in most of the subsequent landings in the Philippines. She carried out pre-invasion sweeps at Ormoc Bay on 6 December, Mindoro Island on 14 December, Lingayen Gulf on 6 January 1945, and Zambales and Subic Bay on 29 and 31 January. During and after the initial troop landings, she helped extend the mineswept areas and provided antisubmarine and antiaircraft protection for the transports anchored off the beaches. Few mines were encountered, but kamikaze resistance was intense, and the ships saw much antiaircraft action.
On 13 February, Salute and her division began pre-invasion sweeps inManila Bay in preparation for the landings at Mariveles and Corregidor. While sweeping off Corregidor on the 14th, the minesweepers came within 5,000 yards of the island and were repeatedly straddled by Japanese fire before supporting ships silenced the island's guns. Salutecontinued sweeping in Manila Bay through 18 February, and her division earned a Navy Unit Commendation for the operation.
During the next two and one-half months, Salute carried out several local sweeps in support of ground operations in thePhilippines, the most notable being a pre-assault sweep for the landings at Legaspi, Luzon, on 1 April, and an 8-day sweep in the Sulu Sea off Palawan beginning on 22 April. On 9 May, the ship arrived at Morotai to prepare for operations in theNetherlands East Indies.
Sinking
With Mine Division 34, Salute began the pre-invasion sweep for the landings in Brunei Bay, Borneo, on 7 June 1945. The next day, she struck a mine, buckled amidships, and both bow and stern began to sink. Two landing craft attempted to salvage the minesweeper, but they were unable to control her flooding, and the ship sank. Salute was struck from the Navy list on 11 July 1945.
She now lies at 5°8′N115°5′ECoordinates: 5°8′N115°5′E in 30 meters of water, broken in two pieces, one lying across the other. It is a popular and challenging dive site with a lot of munitions both on and nearby the wreck. The Malaysian navy recently removed her unexploded depth charges.

WW II mine sweeper lost on 8th June 1945. 9 dead, 3 bodies never recovered. One of my favorite dive sights in Asia. Well worth the trip and Brunei is worth checking out. 30+ shipwrecks and any level of diver can find a wreck worth diving.

4 Tips for Healthy Gardening
Jean Loved Gardening
The old English proverb says: “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.” As we wind down April and get ready for May, many of you will be returning to the yard and garden with regularity. At PhysioCare, we see a spike in yard work-related injuries which can be prevented with a little effort and some things to keep in mind.
Warm up – Take a walk prior to going into the yard. A quick 10 – 15 minute walk will do wonders for getting some blood flowing prior to engaging in yard work. It will do wonders for your whole body!
Use good body mechanics – Bend with your knees and engage your abs as you lift. Make sure you keep items close to your body and avoid twisting the spine while lifting. If the items are heavy, then use a wheelbarrow or wagon.
Take breaks – Do you love to get down and dirty picking weeds? Bent over or kneeling for long periods of time can be taxing on your back, neck and lower body. Every 20-30 minutes, stand up and take break. During that time, put your hands on hips and bend backward at the waist 10 times. This will move your body in the opposite direction and will help counteract all of the forward bending you are doing.
Hydrate – When you become dehydrated, you become fatigued. When you become fatigued, you become lazy with your mechanics setting yourself up for injury. Make sure you are drinking water while you are out in the yard.
These 4 ideas will not prevent all injuries from occurring, but they will go a long way to helping you stay injury-free during the Spring gardening season. As always, should you overdo it in the yard. Thanks for stopping by today...
