1946 St. Paul Winter Carnival Queen, Age 88 Died on January 7, 2011 peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Preceded in deathby husband, Robert A. and parents,Arthur and Henriette Peterson.Survived by children, Mary Gagne (Greg), Robert Jr. (Stacey), J. Patrick (Carolyn), Judi Vergosen (Paul) and David; grandchildren, J.P., Gail,Kelly, Peter, Bobby III, Katie, Ellie, Kaylyn and Jay; brother, RichardPeterson (Mary). As Queen, Shirley reigned over the 1946 Victory Commemorative Winter Carnival. She was a 1940 graduate of Johnson High School and a proud "Eastsider". She cherished her golf and bridgepartners as a lifelong member of Southview Country Club. Shirley served as an active member of the Roseville Parks and Recreation Board. A truly unique character with a wonderful zest for life, Shirley's wit and unfiltered tongue made her the life of the party… which she never left early. Shirley always said "I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of what I might miss". Visitation Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 N. Hamline Ave. and one hour prior at the church.
