| Susan Christine Blood of Hoquiam, Washington | 1948 - 2025 | Obituary: Click Here
Susan Christine Blood, age 77, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, passed away at her home on August 13, 2025.
She was born on June 10, 1948, in Duluth, Minnesota, to John M. and Joyce E. (Olson) Lindseth. In 1974, Susan moved to the Harbor, where she would make her home and raise her family.
Over the years, Susan held many roles, each reflecting her care for people and her strong work ethic. She worked in a sawmill at Copalis Crossing —where she lost her pinky, later calling it her “Mickey Mouse hand” with humor— then worked as a clerk at Lincoln Grocery Store. She later opened her own in-home daycare, nurturing many children in the community, and afterward worked as a nanny for a few local families. In 1995, she began working for the City of Hoquiam in Parks & Recreation and later in the billing department, retiring in 2004.
Family was always at the center of Susan’s life. Known lovingly as “Grammy Sue,” she cherished camping trips with her grandchildren at Wynooche Wild Wood, where no one ever went hungry if she was around. She delighted in cooking meals for family, friends, and anyone who happened to stop by. Her support for her husband, sons, and grandchildren extended to the racetrack, where she always cheered them on and fed the crowd. Holidays were among her favorite times of year, when she poured her love into making handmade Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, David Blood, of Hoquiam; her sons, Ted Blood and Jesse Blood; daughter-in-laws Amy Blood and Bridgette Hubble; stepchildren Alisha Wiese and Timothy Blood; siblings Nancy, Ted, Julie, and Patti; grandchildren Jacob, Dylan, Sydni, Cameron, Madison, Natalie, and Nikki; and great-grandchildren Caden, June, Maisy, Fiona, Milo, and Felix. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Steven and Bonnie.
Sue will be remembered for her humor, generosity, creativity, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
Arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary.
