Wanda Jean Duffy
My niece
|
| Wanda Jean Duffy of Bloomington, Minnesota passed away on April 4, 2021. She was born in 1963 to Shirley Irene and Leon Angus Stevenson. Her father Leo left the family when she was 2 and her mother married James Duffy, Wanda is preceded in death by her mother Shirley Duffy, Step father James Duffy, beloved dog Oakley and Survived by her son, James Carl Duffy; life partner, John; grandchildren, Landen & Aria, their mother, Amber; Grandfather Floyd Heidelberger, Aunts, Patty Meagher and Barbara Graen and many cousins and extended family. In her short time on this earth, Wanda’s kindness was like a stone thrown into Ripple Lake where she spent many summers as a child and teenager. Those ripples into the lake were spreading love and kindness outward to all who knew her, with a loving heart that knew no boundaries. She will be forever remembered for driving her mother’s car with the Thanksgiving pies flying off the top while the cars behind her were trying to avoid getting hit by Pumpkin, Pecan and Butterscotch pies. The birth of her son James brought a new dimension and much joy, not only her life, but to the entire family. As he grew, her life expanded to include being a hockey mom, traveling with the hockey group, working concessions at the hockey games and making many new friends. She enjoyed every holiday always dressing the part from ugly Christmas sweaters (ugly sweaters? No, she loved them) to Halloween costumes. Her love of life increased as she became a Grandma to Landen and once again threw herself into hockey, this time as a hockey Grandma. Her second grandchild Aria allowed her the freedom to be the fun grandma, Dave and Busters became her favorite place to spend time with them as she enjoyed playing the games as much or more than the kids did.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 15th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave S. Bloomington, MN. Visitation from 4-6:00 p.m. with services starting at 6;00 p.m. A live stream will be available via the Gill Brothers website.“In her memory, please wear a mask in public and take Covid-19 seriously. It is real”Please RSVP on Gill Brothers website CLICK HERE

I still am at a loss for words and do not even know what I am feeling. Death has always been such a mixed up part of all life that I wish no one ever had to feel or experience. Wanda Together We had hundreds of memories some good and bad some happy and funny and even scary!! I share only a few and some I promise never to tell! I will hold you close to my heart forever Until we meet again My Big cousin I love you forever ~Jo

I still can’t believe you’re gone, Wanda. It doesn’t feel real. It’s like I woke up from a nightmare. I would give anything to see a phone call from you and to talk about everything under the Sun just to realize 52 minutes had passed. You were like a mother to me and I feel so blessed to have had the chance to grow so close to you over the years. I love you so deeply that my pain is coursing through my veins. The kids and I will forever hold a place for you in our hearts. Our lives will never be the same again. I hope you’re now free of any pain. Rest In Peace. Love you.

Patty Belle Meagher and Wanda Jean Duffy |
|
| It is with great sadness that I post this picture of my niece Wanda Jean Duffy and myself. Covid took her April 4th and we are heartbroken . I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her being the Auntie who lived in CA while she lived in MN. I loved her quirky little smile and how much she loved life. I knew she was a sweet and loving person but at her passing her Facebook page, her obituary and memory pages have blown up with the love and kindness she had for everyone she knew. She had a loving heart that had no boundaries. She will be missed by many.

Thad kielb
Wanda was a friend. She was the most dedicated employee I've had the pleasure to work with. She was a huge part of my success in selling & delivering the finest quality product. She worked hurt, injured, sometimes 2 or 3 jobs at a time. Never complaining. We shared stories & she prayed for my compromised combst veteran son & I prayed for her, and understood her. She was a light in the darkness. God bless her, and God bless and keep all of you, her family. I wish you comfort & love at this difficul ttime. Her friend, Thad Kielb

I'd wish for my son to be happy and free like the bright burning sun or a bird in a tree. I'd wish for my son to feel safe and loved like man when life had begun and the angels up above. |

My Niece, My Friend
By Michele Meleen
When a woman has a daughter, she becomes a mom. But, when she becomes an aunt, there's a friendship type of bond.
I don't have to tell you what to do, or how to comb your hair. I just get to joke and laugh whenever you are there.
If life treats you unfairly, or you're at your wit's end, I will be the voice of reason for my niece, my friend.

Go in peace and remember you are not forgotten while I am still on patrol.

Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep
By Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die.

She is Gone
By David Harkins
You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
