"You're All I Want For Christmas" |
|
|
Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ, Christ the Lord.
Oh, come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, Oh, come ye, oh, come ye, to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Oh, come, let us adore Him, oh, come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation; Oh, sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above! Glory to God, in the highest glory;
Oh, come, let us adore Him, oh, come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ, Christ the Lord.
"Oh Come All Ye Faithful" on the A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra album was Sinatra's first full-length Christmas album released by Capitol Records in 1957. It features the Ralph Brewer Singers along with an orchestra conducted by Gordon Jenkins.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And heav’n and nature sing, And heav’n and nature sing, And heav’n, and heav’n, and nature sing.
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns! Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.
Commonly thought of as a Christmas song today, it was originally written to celebrate the second coming of Christ's reign here on earth. Read the lyrics carefully, and you will note there is nothing about Christmas, but rather a celebration of a sinless world that Christ's regin will bring.
Nat King Cole (March 17, 1919 – February 15, 1965) conquered the pop charts in the Fifties and early Sixties as a warm-voiced singer of orchestrated ballads like “Mona Lisa” and “Unforgettable” and breezy, countrified sing-alongs like “Ramblin’ Rose” and “Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer.”

"Jingle Bells" is one of the best known and commonly sung winter songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and copyrighted under the title 'One Horse Open Sleigh' on September 16, 1857. Despite being inextricably connected to Christmas, it is not specifically a Christmas song. It is one of many "joyful songs" written in New England during the late 19th century.
