George Clarkson Stanfield was born on May 1, 1828 in London, England. He was a painter of landscapes, continental scenes, marines and scenes with mountains, rivers, lakes and streams. He was the son of the noted British artist, William Clarkson Stanfield.
He began to exhibit at the Royal Academy, London from 1844 to 1876 as well as at The British Institute and elsewhere.
