On Veterans Day we remember again Our men and women who served; We honor them now for what they did then: The liberties they preserved. Let’s never forget their sacrifice, The hard, heavy work they have done; They did what was asked, crucial needs they fulfilled, With a telephone, pencil or gun. We’re happy and proud to honor them; They gave so much more than they got. Our heroes, our veterans kept freedom safe; All of us owe them a lot.

1st Reconnaisance Battalion Association
|
This year is the 50th anniversary of 1st Recon and the 1st Marine Division's return from Vietnam and the 30th anniversary of Desert Storm.
To my Recon Brothers
2021 Reunion update:
Final preparations are ongoing for the 2021 1st Recon Battalion Assoc. reunion.
The Recon Battalion has been very supportive.
We will enjoy lunch with the Bn on Thursday and an active-duty Recon Marine will join us at every table.
OORAH! Arrangements are in process to take our attendees to the rifle ranges for a little trigger time. Stations for specific types of weapons will be manned by a firing instructor. For many of us this will be the first time to fire a military weapon since back in the day.
Transportation continues to be challenging. If attendees are not renting automobiles, it is strongly suggested that UBER be considered.
Due to COVID all hotels are no longer providing breakfasts. Plans are to provide ‘Dunkin Doughnuts’ products and coffee in the lobby are
A registration desk manned by the First Marine Division Association employees will be set up in the lobby. All attendees will receive a registration packet including name tag.
There will be a Harbor Site and conference room available for gatherings.
We will continue to send out more details as they are finalized.
Dave ‘Doc’ Snider
Over 1500 members and growing as a organization.
1st Recon Battalion Association
Thank you for your patience and support for the reunion.

Wanda Jean Duffy
My niece
|
| Wanda Jean Duffy of Bloomington, Minnesota passed away on April 4, 2021. She was born in 1963 to Shirley Irene and Leon Angus Stevenson. Her father Leo left the family when she was 2 and her mother married James Duffy, Wanda is preceded in death by her mother Shirley Duffy, Step father James Duffy, beloved dog Oakley and Survived by her son, James Carl Duffy; life partner, John; grandchildren, Landen & Aria, their mother, Amber; Grandfather Floyd Heidelberger, Aunts, Patty Meagher and Barbara Graen and many cousins and extended family. In her short time on this earth, Wanda’s kindness was like a stone thrown into Ripple Lake where she spent many summers as a child and teenager. Those ripples into the lake were spreading love and kindness outward to all who knew her, with a loving heart that knew no boundaries. She will be forever remembered for driving her mother’s car with the Thanksgiving pies flying off the top while the cars behind her were trying to avoid getting hit by Pumpkin, Pecan and Butterscotch pies. The birth of her son James brought a new dimension and much joy, not only her life, but to the entire family. As he grew, her life expanded to include being a hockey mom, traveling with the hockey group, working concessions at the hockey games and making many new friends. She enjoyed every holiday always dressing the part from ugly Christmas sweaters (ugly sweaters? No, she loved them) to Halloween costumes. Her love of life increased as she became a Grandma to Landen and once again threw herself into hockey, this time as a hockey Grandma. Her second grandchild Aria allowed her the freedom to be the fun grandma, Dave and Busters became her favorite place to spend time with them as she enjoyed playing the games as much or more than the kids did.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 15th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave S. Bloomington, MN. Visitation from 4-6:00 p.m. with services starting at 6;00 p.m. A live stream will be available via the Gill Brothers website.“In her memory, please wear a mask in public and take Covid-19 seriously. It is real”Please RSVP on Gill Brothers website CLICK HERE
